Happy Birthday Dada!

It was Tetsushi's birthday on Saturday.  We celebrated by going out to dinner, just he and I.  That was a very special treat!  Then on Sunday we celebrated with the whole family.  We made a cake, everyone helped, especially Yukine.  She is getting so good at cutting fruits and veggies.  She and Hiroto helped clean up the whip cream bowl.  This year the croquette came out really good!  Tetsushi did most of the prep work.   All in all it was an awesome birthday.  Lots of good food and fun!  Happy Birthday Tetsushi!

LA trip

We took an overnight trip to LA to see some old friends and see an art exhibit at the LA County Museum of Art.  It was fun and refreshing to get out of town for a bit.  We spent the first day with Yusuke and Niki, hanging out in their studio, walking around town, eating good food.  The kids loved staying in a hotel.  The birds in the lobby may have been their favorite part!  The second day at the museum was very inspiring.  It has been quite a while since we have visited a museum.  It makes me want to do it more.  Thanks to Yusuke and Niki for spending the day with us!  I want to visit LA again!

Yukine was shy at first and didn't want to participate, but when it was time for the donut run, she overcame her nervousness and joined in the fun!  I think it was a good strategy to make the kids earn their snack.  After we all sat together and enjoyed donuts, the rest of the day went really smooth.  We all had a lot of fun.  Great job Yukine!
